The Association

We are the Associació de Guies de Turisme de Catalunya APIT-BARCELONA, (Association of Professional Tourist Guides of Catalonia) founded in Barcelona in 1977.

Our purpose of is to defend our profession and represent our collective before the institutions, promoting the image of the officially licensed guide as an essential element in the tourist industry.

Our values are quality and differentiation of the services provided and our commitment to sustainability in the performance of our activity. APIT BARCELONA fosters solidarity among its associates and supports the continued training of its members.

All of our members are licensed by the “Department of Enterprise and Work” and the “General Administration of Tourism”, in accordance to the present rules and regulations embodied in the Decree 43/2020, of March 10, concerning the activity of Tourist Guides in Catalonia, published on 12/03/2020 in DOGC num. 8083.

We are members of the Spanish Confederation of Official Tour Guides (CEFAPIT), as well as the European Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (FEG), and the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA).
